About

A small company, on the water, with a very narrow idea.

Independent captains already have the boats. We built the thirty seconds that let you reach them.

The idea

The boats exist. The captains exist. The booking does not.

In every coastal city with money in it, the same three facts are true at once. There are more boats than there are days to use them. There are professional captains whose boats sit still four days out of five. And there are people on shore who would pay right now to cross the water instead of driving around it.

Nothing connects those three facts. A charter is still a telephone call, a quote, and a deposit, made a day ahead. Anyone who has tried to book a boat for the same afternoon knows that it is faster to give up and drive.

GlideBlue is that missing connection and nothing else. We do not own boats. We do not employ captains. We do not set prices. We built the place where a request meets the people who can answer it, and we take a commission when they do.

What we hold to

Four rules we wrote before we had a single customer.

For the people on board

  • You see the boat, the person and the full price before you commit
  • You are charged on arrival, not when you book
  • A trip cancelled for weather costs you nothing
  • A boarding code, so the right person gets on the right boat

For the people at the helm

  • You set your own price. We never set it for you
  • No exclusivity, no acceptance rate, no penalty for saying no
  • The weather call is yours alone, and it is free
  • Your commission rate never changes without ninety days' notice

How we are paid

A commission on each booking. Nothing else.

We take a percentage of each completed booking, taken from the professional's side, and it is written on their contract before they accept a single request. The first ten professionals in each city keep a lower rate for as long as they stay with us.

There is no subscription, no joining fee, no listing fee and no equipment to buy. We do not sell better placement in the results, and we do not take money to put one captain above another. When a boat does not sail, nobody pays anything, us included.

We say this plainly because the alternative is what most platforms became: a fee on the customer, a fee on the professional, a fee to be seen, and a rate that moves whenever growth slows down.

What we do not do

The list matters as much as the other one.

We do not run a scheduled service. Every crossing is a private booking that one customer asked for. That is a legal distinction in France and a deliberate one everywhere.

We do not own or operate boats or aircraft. The captain owns the boat and carries the commercial insurance; the air operator holds the certificate. We check those papers and we remove anyone whose papers lapse.

We do not handle fuel, and we do not intend to. It is a licensed trade with liabilities we have no business carrying.

We do not employ the professionals on the platform. They are independent, they keep their own customers, and they work with whoever else they like.
