Why here
A city built on water that moves by road.
Florida registers more boats than any other state, Miami-Dade sits among its largest fleets, a bay that is flat most of the year, and a winter season that runs while Europe is closed. It also has causeways that stop dead at six in the evening and a bridge network that turns a two-mile trip into forty minutes.
Everything needed for this to work already exists here: the docks, the boats, the captains, the demand and the weather. What does not exist is the thing that lets you use them in the next hour rather than next week. That is the only thing we are building.

The date
Why December 14, and what would move it.
December 14 puts us on the water for the whole winter season, before the holidays and before the boat show traffic. It is early enough to matter and late enough to be ready.
It is not a marketing date. There is a condition attached to it, and it is checked on December 1: five captains signed and at least one dock confirmed. If that condition is not met, we move the opening and we say so here, on this page, rather than opening to a city where nobody answers your request.
