How much does a boat charter cost in Miami?

The five things that move the number

The hours come first, and they are not linear. A four-hour block costs more than half of an eight-hour day, because the captain loses the whole day either way once the boat is prepared, fuelled and cleaned. That is why half-days often look expensive next to full days.

The boat is second. Length is the visible part; what actually costs is the engines. A thirty-five foot centre console with triple outboards burns more in a morning than a slower cruiser burns in a day.

Then the season. December to April in Miami is the season, and weekends inside it are the peak of the peak. The same boat on a Tuesday in September is a different business.

Then the route. An anchorage twenty minutes away and an anchorage an hour away are not the same fuel bill, and a captain who has to run empty across the bay to reach your dock is paying for that leg too.

And finally the extras: port and mooring fees where a marina charges them, water toys, and whatever you eat and drink on board.
